WILMA WINE BAR
Atelier Anjora
For the wine bar “Wilma” in Berlin Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, we developed a holistic interior concept that translates the classic neighbourhood wine bar into a contemporary setting. The aim was to create an open, social space with a clear design language and a warm atmosphere. One that works equally well during the day as it does in the evening and at night.
A defining feature is the checkerboard floor in deep red and burgundy tones. It shapes the space from the very first moment and gives it a strong, recognisable identity. The red of the tiles reappears in selected tables, subtly linking the materials throughout the room. Beige trowelled plaster walls complement the floor with a calm, textured surface, keeping the interior bright and welcoming during daytime hours.
Upon entering, guests step directly into the main seating area with the bar counter and a small DJ booth. Seating within the large shopfront niche and additional tables structure the room. Wooden chairs add warmth and create a deliberate contrast to cooler materials such as stainless steel and tile.
The stainless-steel bar sets a clean, contemporary accent. Mirrored tiles behind the counter and along the bench seating reflect light, make the space feel larger and add depth.
A passage framed in tiles leads into a second, smaller seating area. Here, the material concept continues consistently: wooden tables and stainless-steel chairs echo the front room, creating a cohesive overall atmosphere.
At the rear, two restrooms pick up the red colour concept, alongside an area with wine shelving. An acoustic ceiling made from natural fibre panels improves sound comfort and adds another natural element to the palette. Metal pendant lights zone the seating areas and create a focused lighting mood for evening service.
The furniture layout is designed to be flexible, allowing different table arrangements and making the space suitable for events.
