The bicycle garage on the ground floor of a training center in Leipzig combines functional efficiency with a clean architectural aesthetic. The goal of the design was to create maximum storage space for bicycles while also designing a space that blends seamlessly into the building’s surroundings.
The chosen color and material scheme significantly shapes the atmosphere: A soft shade of green creates a calm, natural atmosphere and establishes a visual connection to the adjacent courtyard. Glass blocks provide even lighting and lend the space transparency, while metal mesh elements underscore the industrial character while also offering functionality in the form of ventilation and durability.
Particular attention was paid to organization and usability. Three different bicycle rack variants ensure optimal use of space and offer flexible parking options for various types of bicycles. The design is intentionally kept simple and intuitive to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted daily routine. Despite its functional focus, the bicycle garage is conceived not merely as an infrastructural element, but as a high-quality designed space. In close connection with the inner courtyard, a restrained, minimalist design emerges that creates a pleasant atmosphere—a place where people enjoy spending time and that enhances daily use.
