Finca Cala Marcal

The project involves a comprehensive structural and technical refurbishment of an existing residential building on Mallorca, situated directly on the coast in the bay of Cala Marcal near Portocolom. The existing structure is largely to be preserved. The goal is to strengthen the building, improve its energy performance, and redesign it according to contemporary standards.

The architectural concept combines the elegance of traditional Mallorcan architecture with a clear, modern design language. Existing proportions are respectfully refined and reinterpreted through generous openings, natural materials, and a subtle color palette. Warm earth tones, wooden shutters, and mineral surfaces create a calm, Mediterranean atmosphere that harmoniously connects interior and exterior spaces.

In response to the desire for more living space, the building has been carefully extended. The previously unused attic was converted and supplemented with an additional room, while the former covered terrace was transformed into a high-quality interior area. These measures enable optimal use of the existing structure without altering the building’s original character.

In a later construction phase, the outdoor areas will also be completely redesigned. The plans include generous terrace spaces, a harmonious integration into the surrounding landscape, and an infinity pool with a direct view of the sea — a natural continuation of the open, light-filled spatial concept.
